Junior Women's League of Smithfield Hosts Stock the Box Food Drive to Support Blessing Boxes and Combat Food Insecurity in Johnston County at the 9th Annual Touch A Truck on November 2 in Downtown Smithfield

Smithfield, NC – The Junior Women's League of Smithfield (JWL) is proud to announce its upcoming Stock the Box Food Drive during their 9th Annual Touch A Truck community event to help fight food insecurity in Johnston County. The donation collection will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 9am-2pm in Downtown Smithfield during the Touch A Truck event.

The public is asked to bring non-perishable food donations to support the Junior Women’s League of Smithfield’s Blessing Boxes, a local initiative that provides easy access to food for those in need. The 9th Annual Touch A Truck event will feature a variety of trucks and vehicles for children and adults alike to explore, including fire trucks, police cars, construction equipment, and more.

Food insecurity remains a pressing issue in Johnston County, and the Blessing Boxes provide an accessible, immediate resource for families and individuals who need help.  We are excited to bring the community together for a fun day, while also supporting such a meaningful cause.

Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods, boxed food items, and other non-perishable items to help stock the Blessing Boxes, which are strategically placed throughout the county at local fire departments. Donations will be collected throughout the day, and every contribution will go directly to those in need.
