Smithfield receives grant to aid industry

The Town of Smithfield has received a $175,000 grant from the N.C. Rural Infrastructure Authority.

The money will help turn an old building on South Bright Leaf Boulevard into a new home for an expanding industry.

Atlantic Resources Inc. company designs, fabricates and installs mechanical systems, thermal imaging and related solutions for industrial and agricultural clients.

The company’s plans to renovate the building’s electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems and create office space. The grant is part of a total capital investment of $737,800.
