Serve The Need in Johnston County Announces The 11th Annual Thanksgiving Community Sit-Down Meal

Serve The Need in Johnston County Announces The 11th Annual Thanksgiving Community Sit-Down Meal - Meal Will Feature Two Sittings and Will Take Place on November 22nd

Serve The Need in Johnston County is heading up the Annual Thanksgiving Community November 22, 2023.

“We wanted to be able to serve more of the community.”  Stated Chairman, Teresa Schmitt of L.I.T.E. House Foundation.  “Having two different times in order for the community to enjoy the meal was one way to do that and we are thankful that we have the resources and volunteers to make this happen in person.”

All parties involved are looking forward to this 11th Anniversary and getting the meal out to those in need in our Clayton Community.  The meal started in 2010 as a way to feed the area residents that could not afford food let alone a full blown Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings.  The pandemic forced the organization to take a 2-year hiatus.

“This is a FREE meal, but tickets are required in order to enjoy.  Reason being so we can accommodate the demand and know exactly how many turkeys to purchase, hams, potatoes, etc.” Continued Schmitt.  “We want to make sure we have enough for everyone as all are welcome to come and enjoy the food and fellowship this year.”

The Community can choose from 2 sittings:

FIRST SITTING:
11:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Clayton Civitan Bldg - 340 McCullers Street – Clayton

SECOND SITTING:
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Clayton First Baptist Church - 411 N. Fayetteville Street – Clayton

The meal is provided to the community with the support of area churches, businesses, volunteers and donations.

Please direct any questions about the meal or if you want to donate, please call Teresa Schmitt at 919-495-3077 or Tom Ricks, President of Serve The Need in Johnston County at 919-333-8399.
