Activate Selma Non-Profit Group Decorates Downtown Selma For The Holidays.

Activate Selma has completed decorating Raiford Street in downtown Selma for the Holidays.
“Downtown Selma is the “living room” of our town, and we want our visitors and guests to feel welcomed in a town as pretty as it can be.”  Stated group President, Kim Wooten.  “We are excited for everyone to see the trees at Art Out Loud Park, the window displays along Raiford Street, hear the music and experience the nostalgic feel of the town itself this holiday season.”

Wooten organized the installment of 10 trees in Art Out Loud Park, located on S. Raiford Street, that are all similar in decoration and are sponsored by various businesses and individuals in Selma.

“We wanted our town to look like a Hallmark movie.  A place that families could come for an afternoon of shopping, photo fun and feel the magic of Christmas.” Continued Wooten.  “With all of the businesses and residents working together, I think we achieved that look and feeling here in downtown Selma.”

Downtown businesses have decorated their windows in anticipation of the holidays as well.  Evelyn Costelloe lent her expertise in making that happen.

“I just love Selma. I grew up here, and I have retired here.  This town draws you in and I want fellow residents and visitors to feel that same thing.”  Stated Costelloe.  “Without collaboration with the town, the residents and the business owners, none of this would happen.  I’m happy to be a part of it again this year.”

Raiford Street, starting from Railroad Street all the way to Oak Street, will be alight for the public to enjoy, and Activate Selma invites you to visit downtown for Shop Small Saturday on November 25th and the Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade on Tuesday, December 5th.

The trees and decorated windows will be available to enjoy until just after Three Kings Day, January 6th, 2024.
