Old North State Food Hall Adds to Leadership Team

New hires bring extensive restaurant and catering industry experience

Selma, NC (April 12, 2024) – TEC Food Hall, LLC is pleased to announce the hiring of Colleen Roby as General Manager and Loren Dean as Executive Director Catering Services at Old North State Food Hall. Roby is the former owner/operator of Simple Twist, a popular dining spot with multiple locations throughout Johnston County that closed in 2023.

Originally from upstate New York, Roby has called North Carolina home since 2000. She holds a bachelor's degree from SUNY Potsdam.  When she’s not watching her teenage daughter perform gymnastics, her hobbies include exercising and running, traveling, and playing games.

Roby said, “I was looking for a new challenge and this opportunity is a great fit. I’ve found the staff to be enthusiastic, friendly, and hard-working. I encourage everyone to try new tastes at the food hall. My personal favorite is the Cuban sandwich at Aroma de Cuba.”

AdVenture Development President Kevin Dougherty said, “Colleen excels in the skills we were looking for in a general manager for the Food Hall. She knows the community well, and she brings strong leadership and management skills from her experience in the restaurant industry.”

Loren Dean has been working behind the scenes to create Provisions by Old North State, off-site catering services designed to cover everything needed for a one-stop moveable feast for any meeting, gathering or celebration. She brings extensive catering experience from her roles at Cyber Café and Catering in Smithfield and Culinary Bliss in Raleigh.

Dean and her husband, Eric, live on a farm in Newton Grove. Their large extended family includes four adult children and seven grandchildren. Regarding her new role, Dean said, “I’m excited to use my experience to build a new department within the Food Hall, and in that, increase its reach and impact in the community.”

Dougherty shared, “Loren is held in high regard around town for her work managing the Cyber Café. We feel fortunate to have her leading our effort to develop and introduce the best catering services in the area.”
