Triangle East Chamber of Commerce Invites Nominations for 2024 Legacy Awards

The Triangle East Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Legacy Awards, celebrating individuals and businesses who have made significant contributions to Johnston County.

The Legacy Awards honor excellence in four categories:

1. Triangle East Citizen of the Year: Recognizes a citizen who has demonstrated outstanding service and dedication to the region over the past year. In 2023, this award was presented to Ron Hester for his exemplary commitment to the community.

2. Triangle East Lifetime Achievement Award: Honors individuals who have consistently served the region with exceptional ability and dedication throughout their lifetime. Last year, this prestigious recognition was awarded to John Parish.

3. Jimmy Creech Small Business Person of the Year: Named in memory of 1976 Board Chair Jimmy Creech, this award acknowledges an outstanding small business owner who exemplifies success, longevity, and community commitment. In 2023, Zena Rose, owner of Coffee on Raiford, was recognized for her business leadership and impact.

4. Triangle East Emerging Leader Award: Celebrates a young professional under 40 who has made significant contributions to their community and organization. Last year, Stephanie Hufnagle was awarded for her exceptional leadership. Additionally, 11 outstanding professionals under age 40 were recognized for their achievements, highlighting the region’s vibrant and emerging talent.

Nominations for the 2024 Legacy Awards are open until January 31, 2025. Self-nominations are not accepted. Nomination forms are available online or in paper format at the Chamber office located at 1115 Outlet Center Drive, Smithfield.

Award recipients will be celebrated at the Legacy Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 29, 2025

The Triangle East region encompasses the towns of Archer Lodge, Flowers, Kenly, Micro, Pine Level, Princeton, Selma, Smithfield, Wilson's Mills, and the Cleveland community.
