JCPS Launches New Family Academy Webpage to Strengthen Family Engagement

SMITHFIELD, NC - Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) is excited to introduce its new Family Academy webpage, a one-stop resource designed to help families stay informed, connected, and engaged in their child’s education. Recognizing that family engagement plays a vital role in student success, JCPS created the platform to make important district information, helpful tools, and educational resources easier to find and access throughout the school year.

The Family Academy webpage brings many of the district’s most frequently used resources together in one convenient location, eliminating the need to search across multiple webpages. Families can quickly access school calendars, enrollment information, Infinite Campus, school meal menus, the school finder, and more. The webpage also features a scrolling banner highlighting districtwide events, important updates, and school closures, along with quick links to popular departments and services. Regular updates will ensure families have access to timely, relevant information throughout the year.

One of the platform’s key features is JCPS In the Know, a collection of short, informative tutorial videos designed to help families better understand and navigate district resources. The videos will offer step-by-step guidance on topics such as accessing school calendars, using school nutrition digital tools, registering for transportation services, navigating the official transportation app, and monitoring students’ academic progress through Infinite Campus. 

Families can also explore information about JCPS choice programs, access student learning tools through ClassLink, review district policies and Board of Education resources, and learn more about academic achievement and opportunities available throughout the district.

The Family Academy webpage also makes it easier to stay connected with JCPS through its interactive News and Live Feed sections. Families can explore district news, feature stories, press releases, photos, videos, and other important updates in an accessible, social media-style format. 

Integrated with the JCPS app and other district communication tools, the Live Feed helps bring school and district news directly to families, creating more opportunities to engage with the people, programs, and achievements that make JCPS special. Together, these features support the district’s commitment to keeping families informed and actively involved in their students’ educational experiences.
