Triangle East Chamber Launches Emerging Leaders Professional Development Workshop
Employers invest millions in technical training. This workshop focuses on the professional skills that often determine who advances into leadership.
SMITHFIELD, NC – The Triangle East Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with MD Fields Consulting, is offering a new professional development opportunity designed specifically for emerging leaders, early-career professionals, and employers seeking to strengthen their talent pipeline.
The Skills No One Teaches: But Every Professional Needs will be held on August 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Triangle East Chamber of Commerce in Smithfield. Registration is open through July 30, and space is limited.
While technical skills and education often open doors, career advancement frequently depends on workplace competencies that are rarely taught in the classroom. This interactive workshop is designed to help participants develop the confidence, communication skills, and professional presence needed to succeed in today's workplace.
"One of the challenges employers consistently face is helping talented employees develop the professional skills necessary to grow into leadership roles," said Kelly Wallace, President & CEO of the Triangle East Chamber of Commerce. "This workshop addresses those critical skills—from navigating difficult conversations to building credibility and professional relationships—that can accelerate career growth and strengthen an organization's future leadership pipeline."
The workshop will focus on three key areas essential to professional success:
- Navigating workplace performance conversations and feedback
- Understanding modern expectations of professionalism and workplace presence
- Building meaningful professional relationships and networking effectively
Participants will leave with practical strategies they can immediately apply to improve workplace communication, strengthen relationships, and position themselves for future opportunities.
The program is ideal for:
- Emerging professionals
- Early-career employees
- Recent graduates
- New supervisors and team leaders
- Individuals seeking career growth and advancement
The workshop will be facilitated by Melissa Fields, MBA, a Human Resources Operations Leader and College Professor with extensive experience in leadership development, talent management, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement.
Employers are encouraged to consider the workshop as a professional development investment for high-potential employees and future leaders within their organizations.
The program concludes with a networking session, providing participants an opportunity to build connections with peers and business leaders from across the region.
