Smithfield’s Longest-Running Festival Returns with a Spectacular Lineup of Fun, Food, and Entertainment!
Smithfield, NC – Mark your calendars for an unforgettable day of fun at the 39th Annual Ham & Yam Festival, returning to historic Downtown Smithfield on Saturday, May 3, 2025! As Smithfield’s longest-running festival, this beloved tradition celebrates community, culture, and, of course, the two iconic Southern staples: ham and yam (they’re really sweet potatoes).
This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, with activities and entertainment for all ages. The day kicks off bright and early with the Hog Trot 5K and the Piglet Stampede, a fun run for kids. Don’t miss the opportunity to start your morning with a traditional Ham Biscuit before diving into the day’s jam-packed schedule of events.
Enjoy performances throughout the day on three stages, featuring local talent, regional acts, and headliners. Wrap up the festival with a FREE evening concert at the Neuse River Amphitheater, featuring award-winning country music artist Aaron Tippin.
Explore a variety of exciting activities throughout the day! Car enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Southland Car Club Show, showcasing an impressive array of vehicles. Food lovers can enjoy the fierce competition at the BBQ Competition, where pitmasters battle for the title of the best BBQ. Get ready for some creative surprises with the quirky What’s That Yam Thing? challenge, and admire the talents of young artists at the vibrant Art Exhibits. Families can head to the Kids Zone Carnival, packed with fun rides, games, and activities for kids of all ages.
