ARCHER LODGE, NC – At the September 8, 2026, meeting of the Archer Lodge Town Council, Sarah Bunn was sworn-in as the New Town Clerk. Mayor Matt Mulhollem administered the Oath of Office, while her husband, Josh Bunn, held the Bible.
Under North Carolina law, every city and town in the state must have a town clerk. The town clerk serves as an essential, neutral public officer who manages official municipal records, administers public notices and transparency laws, and provides critical administrative support to the governing board and town administrator.
During the September 8th meeting, Mayor Mulhollem welcomed Sarah and said, “You have done an outstanding job with your first meeting, and we look forward to working with you.”
Council Member Mark Jackson added, “I'm glad to have you [Sarah] here. You've been a very good asset for the community for years now...we are very happy to have you here.”
Sarah comes to the town with a Master’s Degree in Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Sports Management from NC State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University. Previously, she spent more than a decade in academic sales with a major publisher.
“The town clerk serves as the primary bridge between the community and town council. Sarah brings a strong educational and professional background, along with a passion for community service, in general, as well as a deep regard for Archer Lodge. Sarah has been active in the community for several years, and her knowledge of the community and passion will serve her well in her role. We are excited to have her join our team,” said Town Administrator David Bone.
Sarah stated, “I'm honored to serve Archer Lodge as Town Clerk. This is such a special place, with neighbors who look out for one another and traditions like our monthly community meals that bring people together. I'm proud to call Archer Lodge home, and it's truly ‘the best corner of the world.’ After years of volunteering locally, I'm excited to continue serving the town I love in this new capacity.”
