Downtown Smithfield to Host Spring Art & Wine Walk: A Fusion of Local Flavor and Creative Talent

SMITHFIELD, NC — The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation (DSDC) is proud to announce the return of a seasonal favorite with a creative twist: the Spring Art & Wine Walk. Scheduled for Friday, June 12, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., this year’s event transforms the traditional "Sip and Stop" into a multi-sensory celebration of the Johnston County arts community.

In an exciting new partnership with the Johnston County Arts Council, the DSDC will pair local artists with designated "sip stops," creating a series of pop-up art galleries throughout the downtown area. As attendees sample curated wines, they will have the opportunity to engage with local creators and view unique works of art.

An Evening of Art, Music, and Competition

The event offers more than just fine wine. Highlights of the evening include:

  • The Maker’s Market: A specialized market featuring local art and craft vendors.

  • Sidewalk Chalk Competition: Starting at 12:00 P.M., professional and amateur artists will take to the pavement. Wine Walk participants will serve as judges, voting for their favorite designs to determine the winner of a cash prize.

  • River Jam Concert: To cap off the night, Smithfield Parks and Recreation will host a River Jam concert at the amphitheater featuring the high-energy sounds of Liquid Pleasure from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

Ticket Information & Call for Entries

Tickets for the Spring Art & Wine Walk are $25.00 each. Due to the intimate nature of the "sip stops," a limited number of tickets are available, and early purchase is highly encouraged.

The DSDC is also currently seeking talent to fill the downtown streets. Applications are now open for:

  • Arts & Crafts Vendors: Deadline to apply is Monday, June 1.

  • Sidewalk Chalk Artists: Deadline to apply is Monday, June 8.

“We wanted to create an evening that is all about community connection through the arts—digital, print, chalk, dancing, singing, and more. Even better, this talent isn't being brought in from elsewhere; it is right here in Johnston County,” said Helen Caloz, Events & Marketing Manager of the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation. “By combining the Wine Walk with art of all kinds and the energy of a River Jam concert, we’re offering a full evening of entertainment that truly showcases what makes Smithfield a destination. It’s a beautiful reminder that art is for everyone, and that our community is at its best when we all come together.”
