Worley brings more than 20 years of municipal government experience to the position. She began her career with Wilson’s Mills as municipal clerk, first taking her oath of office 20 years ago on the same date the council approved the new structure. She also served a combined 10 years as town administrator.
“This evening marks a full-circle moment,” Worley said. “It is an incredible honor to be entrusted with serving as the town’s first town manager. I am grateful for the council’s confidence as we move forward into this new chapter together, and I remain committed to leading our staff and serving the community I care about.”
Mayor Fleta Byrd and council members expressed support for the transition, citing Worley’s experience, institutional knowledge and leadership within the town.
The ordinance updates the town charter and code of ordinances to reflect the new governance structure, including provisions assigning administrative authority to the town manager and clarifying responsibilities for enforcement and permitting.
The changes took effect immediately upon adoption.
