SMITHFIELD, NC – The Town of Smithfield announces temporary road closures and traffic changes in preparation for the annual Ham & Yam Festival taking place Saturday, May 2.
Friday, May 1 Road Closures
- South Front Street from Johnston Street to 2nd Street will close at 12:00 PM.
- Johnston Street to 3rd Street, along with the 100 and 200 blocks of South 2nd Street and South 3rd Street, will close beginning at 5:00 PM and remain closed through the festival on Saturday.
Saturday, May 2 Road Closures
- Market Street from Front Street to 4th Street will be closed from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Motorists will be detoured around the festival area using Bridge Street through downtown. Drivers traveling through downtown on Saturday, May 2 should plan for delays and consider using alternate routes.
Parking & Shuttle Information
- Handicap parking will be available in the parking lot behind United Community Bank, accessible from Bridge Street only.
- Additional parking will be available in lots throughout downtown.
- Shuttle service will run every 30 minutes from CARSTAR Auto Body of Smithfield, located at 1195 Brogden Road (Exit 93 off I-95), providing convenient transportation to and from the festival.
