Johnston Now Magazine Earns Two NCPA Awards

Johnston Now Magazine was recently honored with two awards from the North Carolina Press Association (NCPA), recognizing excellence in community journalism and storytelling. The publication earned third place in General Excellence and third place for a photo essay by Editor Jamie Strickland for coverage of events at Camp Flintlock.

“We’re honored to be recognized by our peers for the work that we’re doing at Johnston Now,” said Publisher Randy Capps. “The General Excellence Award category includes every magazine that’s a member of the North Carolina Press Association, so we’re pretty proud of this. We love telling the stories of our friends and neighbors, and we think that shines through in every issue.”

Now in its 10th year of publishing, Johnston Now reaches approximately 40,000 readers each month and is available at nearly 200 locations across Johnston County. The free monthly magazine, supported by local advertisers, focuses on uplifting stories, community features and local events that showcase the best of Johnston County life.

The NCPA Awards celebrate outstanding work in journalism and publishing across North Carolina each year.
