Selma Middle welcomes 12 new educators
 
Selma Middle School has welcomed 12 new educators to its halls for the 2015-2016 school year.
 
Joining the team are Tabitha Ammons, Alexander Burgess, Samantha Determan, Patricia Ann Leitner, Michael Llaury, Cynthia Markham, Shawna Marie Phillips, Emily Shelton, Brandon Sullivan, Aaron Tipping, Chrystal Trammell, and Kimberly Whipple.
 
Kimberly Whipple will be joining the fifth grade team at Selma Middle. She is a graduate of California University and Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. She will be teaching Science/Reading. Cynthia Markham joins the fifth grade team as a Dual Language teacher. She is a graduate of Western Carolina University. Brandon Sullivan will also be on the fifth grade team. Mr. Sullivan is a graduate of UNC Wilmington and will be teaching Language Arts, Social Studies, and Math.
 
New additions to the sixth grade team will be Ms. Patricia Ann Leitner and Mr. Aaron Tipping. Ms. Leitner is a graduate of The University of South Florida and The University of Southern Mississippi. She will be teaching Science. Aaron Tipping will teaching Social Studies, and he is a graduate of Edinboro University in Pennsylvania.
 
Tabitha Ammons will be joining the seventh grade team teaching Science. She is a graduate of  N.C. State University . 
 
Michael Llaury will be a member of the eighth grade team. Mr. Llaury is a graduate of N.C. State University and Wake Technical Community College. He will be teaching Social Studies.
 
Joining the elective team will be Emily Shelton. Ms. Shelton is a graduate of Barton College and will be teaching Project Lead the Way, which follows a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) curriculum and encourages the development of problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creative and innovative reasoning, and a love of learning.
 
Selma Middle School’s new Curriculum Coach will be Chrystal Trammell. Ms. Trammell completed her undergraduate studies in education at Barton College and is currently pursuing her graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction K-12 at Gardner-Webb University.
 
Working in the Speech and Language pathology department this year will be Shawna Marie Phillips and Samantha Determan. Ms. Phillips is a graduate of North Carolina Central University, and Ms. Determan is a Graduate of West Virginia University.
 
Serving as an Assistant Principal Intern this year will be Alexander Burgess. He is a graduate of N.C. State University and is coming from Smithfield Middle School.
