The Town of Smithfield is preparing for the 39th annual Ham & Yam Festival, celebrating local heritage, music, and food. To ensure the safety of festival goers and accommodate various events, several downtown streets will be closed during the weekend of the festival. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes.
Road Closure Schedule:
- Saturday, May 3rd (7 AM - 7 PM): Market Street (from Front Street to 4th Street) will be closed for festival activities, including the Southland Car Club Show.
- Friday & Saturday, May 2nd & 3rd (all day): Front Street (from Market Street to Church Street) and Johnston Street (from Front Street to 2nd Street) will be closed.
- Friday, May 2nd (6 PM) - Saturday, May 3rd (all day): Additional closures will be in place on 2nd Street South & 3rd Street South (from Market Street to Church Street, and Johnston Street (from 2nd Street to 3rd Street).
Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes when traveling in and around downtown Smithfield during the festival. Local authorities will be on-site to manage traffic and assist with detours.
