Culver’s Brings ButterBurgers and Fresh Frozen Custard to Smithfield-Selma Area

Selma, North Carolina, June 29, 2026 – A slice of small-town Wisconsin is coming to Selma, NC! Culver’s, known for Dairyland delicacies like ButterBurgers and Fresh Frozen Custard, will make its debut to the Smithfield-Selma area on Monday, July 13, 2026 – adding one more to its list of locations across 26 states.

Culver’s serves fast-casual food cooked to order and always fresh – never frozen. From real Wisconsin Cheese Curds to mouthwatering ButterBurgers – there’s something for everyone on the menu. The new location at 1801 Outlet Center Drive will serve guests from 10:30 AM to 10 PM Dine In and 10:30 AM to 11 PM for Drive Thru, Curbside and Delivery, apart from some holidays.

Owner Cody Findlay has been a member of the Culver’s team for 11 years, and he, alongside his wife, Shellbee, is looking forward to mentoring new team members from the Selma area.

“11 years ago, I started at Culver’s as a team member,” Findlay said. “With the mentorship provided by the company, I’ve been able to develop my skills in the restaurant business to turn Culver’s into a fulfilling career, and I’m thrilled to be in a position to operate the Selma restaurant.”

Findlay was just 19 years old on his first day working as a team member at one of the Culver’s locations in New Richmond, WI. His interest in building a career at Culver’s started when he moved into a management position. He met another Culver’s owner, Kevin Weasler, who took him under his wing and helped him continue to grow as a leader and sharpen his skills in the restaurant industry through the https://www.culvers.com/franchise/overview

The program allows managers to own and operate restaurants with help from a mentoring partner, anopportunity Findlay says is a beneficial experience for everyone.

“You learn so much by watching others who are already experts at owning a franchise,” Findlay said. “The
Mentorship Program is what helped me get to this position today.”

While Culver’s originated in Sauk City, WI, Cody Findlay is looking forward to making the new location an
active part of the Selma community, all while sticking to the restaurant’s Wisconsin roots.

“We're excited to open and begin welcoming guests through our doors with the warm hospitality Culver’s is
known for,” said Findlay. When Selma residents are looking for handcrafted meals cooked to order and tasty
frozen treats, we'll be ready to serve them.”

Guests will have plenty of delicious menu items to choose from. The ButterBurger, Culver’s signature
sandwich, is made with 100% fresh, never-frozen beef. It gets its name from its lightly buttered and toasted
bun.

Culver’s Fresh Frozen Custard is handcrafted in small batches in-restaurant throughout the day and gets its
legendary creamy decadence from high-quality, fresh Wisconsin dairy. Guests can customize their frozen
treats with more than 30 mix-ins and toppings.

Other guest favorites include chicken sandwiches and fresh garden salads. Side options include Crinkle Cut
