SELMA, N.C. - One of North Carolina's longest-standing road races is reaching a major milestone this fall as the 50th Annual Boys & Girls Club / Selma Railroad Days 5K returns on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026.
Recognized as North Carolina's longest-running 5K race, the Selma Railroad Days 5K has been a community tradition for five decades. Known for its flat, fast course, the race attracts competitive runners hoping to set personal records, first-time participants looking to complete their first 5K, and families who simply want to enjoy a morning together.
The event welcomes runners and walkers of all ages, and well-behaved pets are also invited to join the fun.
Proceeds from the race benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Johnston County, helping provide after-school programs, mentoring, academic support, and positive opportunities for local youth.
This race has become much more than a sporting event," organizers said. "For 50 years, it has brought our community together while helping support programs that make a lasting impact on the lives of young people throughout Johnston County."
Businesses and community organizations are invited to support the event through sponsorships as organizers celebrate this golden anniversary.
