Smithfield, NC — The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation (DSDC) extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the 39th Annual Ham & Yam Festival an overwhelming success!
As our signature community event, the Ham & Yam Festival brings together thousands to celebrate the spirit, flavor, and culture of Smithfield. This year’s festival was no exception—featuring a full day of music, vendors, family fun, and of course, the best ham biscuits and sweet potatoes around.
We are especially grateful to the Town of Smithfield for their incredible support. With the new addition of closing Market Street for the festival, the Town took on new logistical challenges with grace and efficiency. From traffic planning to public safety, their partnership made all the difference. The Public Works Department went above and beyond, not only helping with setup and teardown but cleaning up so quickly after the event that an hour after the concert ended, you’d hardly know we had just hosted one of the region’s largest festivals.
A huge thank you to the Smithfield Fire Department, who juggled EMS support and still found time to serve up award-worthy BBQ in their sponsored whole hog cook-off. Their contributions on every level were extraordinary.
We’re also grateful for the dedication of volunteers from every corner of our community—including team members from Amazon, Town of Smithfield staff, DSDC board and supporters, and passionate citizens who gave their time and energy to ensure the event ran smoothly.
And of course, we thank everyone who attended. Your enthusiasm, participation, and community spirit are what bring the Ham & Yam Festival to life each year.
