Third StrEATery to Open for Outside Dining and Music Starting September 25
SMITHFIELD, NC – The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation (DSDC) is excited to announce the opening of the Third StrEATery, Downtown Smithfield’s Outside Dining Room, on September 25.
In an effort to expand the dining rooms of downtown restaurants and encourage people to visit Downtown Smithfield businesses, the 100 block of S. Third Street will be closed to allow the addition of tables and chairs. Patrons will be able to get to-go orders from any downtown restaurant and eat at a table on Third Street, where there will be live music from 5:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
The DSDC plans to operate the Third StrEATery on September 25, October 9, and October 23, but may expand the series to other weekend nights depending on its success. In order to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved, all attendees will be asked to wear a mask when not eating or drinking and to maintain social distancing requirements, in accordance with North Carolina’s current executive orders. The DSDC will be providing touchless, automatic hand sanitizing stations.
“We are thrilled to be able to open the Third StrEATery and give people another reason to patronize our downtown businesses,” stated Sarah Edwards, Executive Director of the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation. “We ask that everyone please do their part to follow the rules so that we can add additional dates to the series.”
The DSDC has booked an eclectic lineup of musicians to perform at the Third StrEATery. Jazz Guitarist Charles Newkirk will begin the series on September 25 with Petals String Duo on October 9, and steel drum player Nathan Brown on October 23, with additional acts ready to perform should the series expand.
