The Town of Selma and Selma Railroad Days Committee Announce Pastor Todd Daniels as the 2022 Grand Marshal of the Selma Railroad Days Parade
Selma, N.C.- The Selma Railroad Days Committee is proud to announce this year’s Parade Grand Marshal is Pastor Todd Daniels of Selma Baptist Church. Pastor Todd Daniels began his ministry at Selma Baptist Church (SBC) on January 6, 2019. One of the first things he did was to do a prayer walk around downtown, stopping on each street corner and praying that God would bring revitalization to the town.
He then asked how the church could help in the process. An answer came in May 2019, when Ms. Mammie Moore, the director of My Kid’s Club at the time found out that he played the drums. She asked if he would be interested in teaching drums to kids over the summer. Thus, was born Selma Baptist’s “On Beat” drum ministry.
In July 2020, the drum ministry moved from the SBC building to 101 N Raiford Street. In addition to kids from My Kid’s Club, the ministry has also worked with youth from Selma Middle School. Pastor Daniels uses the Bible to encourage the youth with their character development. The On Beat ministry has hosted two art competitions for the young artists from Selma Middle School. The art from those competitions is displayed on the walls of the drum studio.
Since Daniels has been pastor, SBC has deepened its support of both the elementary and middle schools by providing meals to the teachers, serving as test proctors, and hosting the middle school athletic banquet. He has also led the church to volunteer in the community by supporting Railroad Days and the Selma Latino Festival. Pastor Daniels has been part of “Activate Selma”, a grassroots initiative. Through that organization, he produced two Shop Small videos to promote the small businesses in Selma and was crucial in producing the HGTV “Small Town Takeover” video for Selma’s entry into that competition.
Pastor Daniels has been instrumental in the rebranding and revitalizing of SBC’s ministry within its four walls and out in the community. The church just celebrated its 150th anniversary in June and anticipates a bright future ahead of them under his leadership.
