Local Wreaths Across America Event Planned for December 17, 2022, at Selma Memorial Gardens, in Selma N.C.

Volunteers help to Remember, Honor, and Teach about our community’s heroes.
Selma, North Carolina — December 17, 2022 — Local Wreaths Across America volunteers are working hard to ensure that all veterans laid to rest at Selma Memorial Gardens are honored this December as part of National Wreaths Across America Day – Saturday, December 17, 2022. Volunteers can arrive around 9:00 a.m. and the ceremony will start at 10:00 a.m.   To raise awareness and wreath sponsorships, Wreaths for Uncle will have a donation and information table at Tractor Supply in Selma on November 19th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wreath sponsorships ensure that every veteran buried at Selma Memorial Gardens will be honored for the first time.

“My uncle was very proud of his service, and he cared a lot for his fellow veterans. He even participated in a Wreaths Across America Wreath day a few years ago. He was also a part of a local VFW post for several years. His respect for those he served with was admirable. They have a bond that no man or woman could take away; they are like family. This is in honor of him and to pass on his respect for those who have served our nation.” Evey Morgan- Event Organizer

“This project is close to the hearts of many in the Town of Selma and throughout Johnston County. The Town of Selma is honored to assist Evey in bringing members of our community together in remembering those that have served and sacrificed. In remembering the fallen, we teach others the importance of the commitment to stand for freedom.” Kelly Blanchard- Community Engagement Coordinator Town of Selma
Last year, ceremonies were held across the country at more than 3,100 participating locations, placing 2.4 million wreaths for interred veterans. This year Wreaths Across America Day will be held on December 17, 2022

The goal: to place a live, balsam fir veteran’s wreath at the headstone of every American veteran to remember their sacrifice, honor their service, and teach the next generation about the value of freedom.  For more information, to donate, or to sign up to volunteer, please visit
