About Us

For 75 years, the University of Mount Olive (UMO) has remained closely connected to the communities it serves, helping prepare a workforce that supports eastern North Carolina. What began as a small junior college has grown into a comprehensive university offering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs rooted in a mission that connects faith, learning, and service.

UMO has focused on developing students academically, spiritually, and personally, equipping them to lead purposeful lives. That commitment continues to guide the University’s growth through new programs, facilities, and flexible learning opportunities.

Today, UMO serves recent high school graduates and working adults seeking career advancement. Traditional programs feature small class sizes and majors in agriculture, aviation, business, Christian studies, education, science, psychology, the arts, exercise science, nursing, justice studies, veterinary bioscience, and more. Online programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels provide additional flexibility for students balancing education with work and family responsibilities. The University’s inaugural doctoral program, the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (K-12 Supervision), reflects continued growth and response to workforce needs across the region.
