The Town of Selma's Planning and Economic Development Office, Johnston County 's Economic Development Office and the Smithfield-Selma Area Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce a ribbon cutting ceremony to honor the Selma Ethanol Project on Tuesday, September 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Bailey Feed Mill, 404 E. Preston Street, Selma, North Carolina. This innovative project is a partnership between Selma's Bailey Feed Mill (BFM), Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and Kinder Morgan (KM) that will bring ethanol to the Selma market more efficiently and safely via an ethanol unit train-to-pipeline distribution system.
This project will reduce the ethanol delivery carbon footprint through a more efficient use of rail capacity and pipeline transportation. It will also reduce truck traffic and increase the overall safety around the community. Furthermore, the project promotes the use of environmental friendly biofuels.
The new facilities will allow for the offload of a 96 car unit train within a 24-hour period at Bailey Feed Mill. The ethanol will then be transported through a newly constructed, 2.6 mile KM pipeline to the Selma terminal network, where it will be distributed to a number of facilities in the Selma market.
