The 6th annual JoCo Latino Festival returns to downtown Selma, NC’s social district on Sunday, May 7 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 pm. This free festival on South Raiford Street celebrates the region’s rich cultural ancestry from Latin America (Mexico, South and Central America) and the Caribbean with live music, dance, food, arts & crafts vendors, informational and educational booths, and children’s activities.
The entertainment lineup stars Sandra Padilla from Univision’s La Reina de la Cancion, “The Queen of Song;” and two live music bands: Directo Norteño and Jazziando Latin Jazz. A local troupe, Folklore Mexican Heritage dancers, will perform, and all ages will be invited to join a walking parade that honors the Monarch butterflies who make their annual journey through North Carolina.
The JoCo Latino Festival is made possible through the generous sponsorship of many Latino-owned small businesses in Johnston County and the region beyond, as well as a grassroots grant from the Johnston County Arts Council. The Town of Selma is supporting the festival with safety, street closures, portable restrooms, and the sound stage.
