DESCRIPTION:Smart Growth Summit\nMarch 27\, 2020 | 2PM\n\n \n\nEconomic Impact of Natural Gas on Triangle East Region\n The Atlantic Coast Pipeline is a critical infrastructure project that will strengthen the economic vitality\, environmental health and energy security of the Mid-Atlantic region.\n\n\n\nPublic utilities in Virginia and North Carolina need new\, lower-cost supplies of natural gas to generate cleaner electricity\, heat the homes of a growing population and power new industries like manufacturing. The pipelines serving our region are fully tapped and unable to keep up with consumer demand. Businesses are having their service shut off on the coldest winter days and new industries are being turned away because the region's pipeline infrastructure is too constrained.\n\n\n\nThat is why a group of regional energy companies are building the Atlantic Coast Pipeline   to deliver the new supplies of natural gas our region needs to generate cleaner electricity\, keep our homes warm and grow the economy.\n\n\n\nJoin us for a project update and learn how it can help your business and our community.\n\n\nGuest Speaker\n\n\n\n\n\nBruce C. McKay\n\nSenior Policy Director & Capital Projects\n\nDominion Energy\n\n\n\nBruce McKay serves as Senior Policy Director and Capital Projects for Dominion Energy\, one of the nation's largest and most diverse energy companies.  McKay manages a team of external affair professionals across multiple states responsible for the development and execution of strategies to advance Dominion's interests on state and local policy matters.  McKay's responsibilities also include overseeing Dominion Energy's Capital Project Support group which works to facilitate the permitting of infrastructure projects.\n\n\n\nMcKay joined Consolidated Natural Gas in 1995 and became part of Dominion Energy when the two companies merged in 2000.  From 2006 to 2016 McKay managed Dominion's federal affairs office in Washington DC.  Prior to joining Consolidated Natural Gas he served as Legislative Director to U.S. Representative Earl Pomeroy (ND) and legislative assistant to former U.S. Senator Quentin Burdick\, focusing on energy and natural resource issues.\n\n\n\nMcKay is past chairman of numerous industry organizations including the Government Relations Committee of the Center for LNG\, the Legislative Committee of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America\, the Government Relations Committee of the Domestic Petroleum Council\, and the Legislative Committee of the American Gas Association.\n\n\n\nMcKay was raised on a farm near Valley City\, North Dakota.  He attended the University of North Dakota\, earning a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Public Administration.  He is married to Anne Miniter McKay\, has three children\, Justin\, Campbell and Jackson\, and resides in Great Falls\, Virginia.
