SUMMARY:Johnston County Adult Spelling Bee
DESCRIPTION:This year's BEE will be held on October 25\, 2016 at Smithfield-Selma High School at 6:00 pm.\n\n\n\nThe funds from this even support Johnston County Education Foundation\, which provides scholarships for students and grants for teachers in Johnston County Public Schools. Since our inception\, more than a million dollars has benefited the students and teachers in this county.\n\n\n\nSpell! Have Fun! The adult Spelling Bee utilizes team spelling. Once the moderator calls a word and uses it in a sentence\, four-person teams all write down their version of the spelling. Time is quickly called and words are handed to the team judges. the correct spelling is then displayed for judges to use to check the spelling. As long as teams spell correctly\, they are in the game. When a team misspells a word\, they can buy the word (until the second half of the difficult word round) in order to stay in the game.\n\n\n\nWe keep the event light-hearted by having teams dress in costume and award spirit and best costume prizes. Theme out your table! Bribe the Bee! The overall winners receive Champion Medallions and the housing of the coveted Spelling Bee trophy for the year.\n\n\n\nSponsorships are available.
