SUMMARY:Falloween Beach Bingo
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is invited to join AVID for our Falloween Beach Bingo next Tuesday\, Oct. 29 from 6-8pm in the cafeteria. It is fun for the whole family! Bring your friends\, too!\n\n \n\n For $5\, you get two cards to play all night. We have some wonderful gift card prizes. We will have concessions for sale\, and our cake auction will be going on as well.\n\n \n\n BACKGROUND ABOUT AVID:\n\n \n\n AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. Students that are accepted into this program are typically going to be the first in their families to go to college. AVID students are typically from groups that are traditionally underserved in our university system who show willingness to work hard and determination to go to college. These students need both the extra push and the college know how that our AVID elective teachers provide. We fundraise to provide opportunities for our students to visit colleges and gain valuable cultural and life experiences.\n\n \n\n Last year we took students to Washington D.C. and to visit colleges including ECU\, UNC- Charlotte\, Queens University\, Catawba College\, Johnson C. Smith University\, Methodist University\, and Fayetteville State University. Also on these trips they were able to attend a movie and forum about the other side of immigration. This year we plan to take students to visit the Outer Banks and colleges including ECU\, NC State\, William Peace University\, Wake Tech\, Western Carolina\, UNC- Asheville\, and Appalachian State.\n\n \n\n As you can see we have a lot going on with the AVID program.
