DESCRIPTION:The Triangle East Chamber of Commerce presents the 2021 State of the Region: Growing Greater Together Tour.  Johnston County is the fastest growing county in North Carolina according to the latest census results. Join us as we take a deep dive into these numbers with Lee Worsley\, Executive Director of the Triangle J Council of Governments to better understand the impacts of the 2020 census results on Johnston County and where we need to focus our attention to manage the growth. In addition\, we'll receive updates from our Triangle East communities. We know we are GREATER TOGETHER\, and we invite you to CONNECT\, GROW\, and PROSPER with us.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout our speaker\n\n\n\nLee Worsley\, Executive Director\n\nTriangle J Council of Governments\n\n\n\nLee Worsley has been the Executive Director of the Triangle J Council of Governments since July 2015. Triangle J Council of Governments is the lead regional organization representing 46 municipalities and counties in the seven-county Research Triangle Region of North Carolina.\n\n\n\nHe earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science\, with a concentration in town and city/county management\, from Appalachian State University.  In 1997\, he earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.\n\n\n\nLee served as Deputy County Manager of Durham County\, North Carolina from 2011 until 2015 and served as Interim County Manager in 2014.  He served as Assistant County Manager in Catawba County from March 2005 until October 2011\; County Manager in Greene County\, North Carolina from March 2002 until February 2005 and Assistant to the City Manager in Goldsboro\, North Carolina from 1999 until 2002.\n\n\n\nLee is a Past President of the North Carolina City/County Management Association and a Past Southeast Region Vice President of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). He has also served as President of the UNC MPA Alumni Association and the Appalachian State University Local Government Alumni Association and currently serves as the Chair of the North Carolina Association of Regional Councils.
