Selma Named Finalist in Strongest Town Contest!

The Town of Selma, North Carolina is proud to announce that the Town has been named a finalist in the Strongest Town Contest 2023. The Strong Towns organization is looking for towns and cities that have clear challenges, with dedicated citizens and local leaders working together to face them. We feel the Town of Selma is the perfect example of a Strong Town. The Town will be competing in a March Madness bracket-style format after being selected to the top 16 by Strong Towns, based on the community’s response to written prompts focusing on various topics. The application was made by Activate Selma, a grass-roots organization of local business owners, residents, and stakeholders who champion Selma by meeting needs, facing challenges, and exploring opportunities throughout the community.

For this first round, everyone will be asked to vote for each of eight head-to-head town matchups based on their initial questionnaire responses. The contest will progress with additional rounds until the winner is finally announced on April 14^th, 2023. We will announce our head-to-head competitor when the voting opens on Monday, March 20th, and we encourage everyone to go to the Strong Towns website at www.strongtowns.org to vote through Thursday, March 23^rd.
